June Visiting Teaching Message 2012

Hello Summer. Hello June.

This month's message is about the sacred assignment of Visiting Teaching. I really liked the following quote:

“Visiting teaching becomes the Lord’s work when our focus is on people rather than percentages. In reality, visiting teaching is never finished. It is more a way of life than a task.” (Julie B. Beck, Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2009, 114.)

I thought a simple reminder of just that with a pretty swallow I found on Graphics Fairy would do the trick this month.

Book of Mormon Summer Reading Chart 2012

It is summer time again. That time of year for projects and reading.
My ward is encouraging the youth to read The Book of Mormon this summer beginning after their youth conference next week.

I designed a summer reading chart for them.

Heres a close up.

I included this year's 2012 LDS Youth Theme, "Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for all nations" (D&C 115:5), as extra inspiration.

Maybe by sharing this as a free downloadable printable with my the Scatter Sunshine followers it may inspire others to challenge themselves to read The Book of Mormon this summer as well.

Hope you find it helpful. Let me know what you think.

May Visiting Teaching Message 2012

April is almost over. I can't believe it. It was a busy month for me. I am excited for May.

Since the May Ensign is a report of the April general conference there is not a specific designated visiting teaching message for April. I thought I would get started early and make a few handouts from a few different talks that I thought might be helpful.

Here is my first idea. More to follow in the next few days.

I loved the talk That the Lost May Be Found by Elder M. Russel Ballard
I took a quote from it and made this:

Free LDS Printable Visiting Teaching Supervisor Contact Card

Last Sunday I talked to a sister in my ward who said until she got the calling to be a Visiting Teaching Supervisor she didn't know she was supposed to call and report. Those little slips of paper we get have such tiny print and get lost pretty easily. So I thought what if I made a card the supervisors could leave behind?  I think a handy reminder would be helpful to them. Maybe by going the extra mile you could put a magnet on the back so it could be handy on the fridge for your sisters.

Here is a jpg of an 8.5x11 sheet you can print three at a time on. Right click to download.

Instructions:
1. Print out on card stock
2. Trim out
3. Fill out
4. Give out to sisters who report to you

Optional: Put on a Magnet.

Please let me know if this tuned out to be helpful. If so I might make a few more styles to offer!

March Visiting Teaching Message 2012

Daughters of our kingdom is the theme of the message this month. I especially like the quote from the section from our history by the prophet Joseph Smith, which I have included in the handout. I like it because it reminds me of the real power of Relief Society.

The handout I made is a little larger than normal. It is 8x10 because I'd like to frame it. So you can print it this size for your sisters or resize it to make it smaller. Right click the image above to download. The back ground is from an old page of irish sheet music, that I edited. Fitting for March. Have a Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

February 2012 Visiting Teaching Message

Hello there Friends,

This month's message is about being guardians of the hearth. I included a beautiful quote given by President Hinckley on the handout for you to share. See the whole message here.

In this month's design I wanted something that would reflect Valentines day as well and I thought the bird with the heart envelope was just the thing. I found it on the graphics fairy site.

One of my very favorite quotes, "I am a little pencil in the hand, of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world", by Mother Teresa is what I think of when I see this bird. When I think of you lovely women acting as visiting teachers, I can't help but think that you are sending Heavenly Father's love letters to the world. Spread the love. Happy Valentines Day!
